PANTEX - Istoric

History

PANTEX S.A. is an old textile-oriented company established in 1904. It first started as an extension (branch) of WILHELM SCHERG & C-i.e. – Stylish Fabric Weaving and Woolen Mill of Brasov – the oldest company within the textile industry known in Romania.

Between 1906-1915, the Branch of Darste, as it was also called, operated as a knitted goods manufacture. After the First World War, starting with 1927, it became a ready-made clothing manufacture. It was known at that time as SCHMULZER-GANZERT Ready-Made Clothing Center.

After the Second World War, from 1948, it was nationalized and so became the state’s property. Other two ready-made clothing manufactures were nationalized and the three of them merged and so Republica Ready-Made Clothing Center was born and functioned until 1956.

The present S.C. PANTEX S.A. BRASOV is so considered to be established in 1956 as it took over the whole patrimony of REPUBLICA Manufacture. Its main object is producing and trading lacing goods.
